Renting or Buying a Car in German – What to Say

Let’s be honest, traveling by car is much more comfortable. There is no need to worry about missing your last train or waiting one hour for the next bus to come.

Also, even though German public transportation is pretty well organized, there are places that you can only reach by car.

Renting a car lets you see more places in less time which is an excellent option if you’re making a short trip.

For a more extended stay in Germany, you might consider buying a car.

Make sure you’re prepared to explain which car you’re looking for:

One of the most stressful things on earth for me is being pulled over by the police. Even though I try to keep to the rules most of the time, I feel guilty for some reason.

The unpleasant part of driving a car is taking responsibility for it.

On top of petrol and insurance costs, owning a car can get expensive, especially if your vehicle needs some repair work.

Cars get old, become less reliable, accidents happen, whether it was your fault or not.

Knowing how to explain what has happened to a mechanic or a police officer is an excellent skill to have.
